I was there too! Not the best of weather for an outside concert, but the guys sounded great. I spotted Adam's wife and daughter and a very cold-looking Dominique Durand and Andy Chase with their two kids.

As I recall they played (not necessarily the exact order):

It Must Be Summer
Mexican Wine
No Better Place (which Chris mistakenly identified as being off their 2nd album)
Hackensack
Stacy's Mom
Hey Julie (Adam cracked that it's required by law to play the acoustic guitar when you're playing in the Park)
Leave the Biker (which was immediately followed by)
Red Dragon Tatoo (which Adam misintroduced as Leave the Biker)
Maureen
Half a Woman
Karpet King
Janice's Party
Sink to the Bottom
Radiation Vibe (Adam started this song with the Vanilla Ice "Ice, Ice" bass line) (they segued into Billy Idol's White Wedding and into The Twilight Zone in the middle of it)
Survival Car
Denise (the last song of the encore)

I feel like I left something out ...

I think the beard really suits Brian - he looked hot. Andy Chase? Also very good-looking.

Sounds like a great show.

It would have been fantastic to hear the three "b-side" tracks, it would have been a long time since those songs were played live.

How did Maureen sound live and how was it received?

I can't wait to see the photos Beth!

urgent re Central Park gig

Hey everyone.... I managed to record yesterday's show with my trusty camcorder... but due to several unfortunate circumstances my video has no audio, and my friend who was supposed to tape the audio to DAT couldn't get his stuff past security.

So....... if anyone happened to have taped last night's show, or if any of you happen to come across it in your travels, PLEASE get in touch with me, so I can add some audio to this video and trade it out. I have lots to trade, as well.

Thans in advance,
Pete

I came up from Cincinnati for the show. It was my fourth time seeing Fountains. Janice's Party was deffinitely a surprise and I was super happy they did Karpet King. I saw Chris leaving with either his mom or his grandma, some old woman either way. Jody walked out through Central Park with a hot blonde hanging onto his arm.

I want to hear 'Tell me what you already did' live, just to see Chris scream in the guitar solo.

If you've heard it, you know what I mean. :kitty:

I was so close to going to see this one.
But of course. Something came up. I am so sad I missed it.

Hopefully they will have more tour dates this summer...like...somewhere not totally across the country. I've never seen them live so my life is kind of incomplete. :(

in response to sherb's post re. maureen, i thought it sounded quite impressive live....the crowd ate it up, and chris's catchy little "m-m-m-m-maureen" vocal hiccup was very knack-esque, in me humble opinion....i think it's the fastest Fountains of Wayne tune ever, actually.....

Let's hope it was Queen's "Under Pressure" instead.
Hehe.

Can't wait to see the pics. Sounds like it was another fab time in good ol' NYC. Blast me and my stupid Midwestern ways...

Your pics came out great! It looks like much nicer weather in the photos than it actually was. Judging from the angle of the photos, you must have been standing right in front of me at the concert.

The one of Adam pointing is because he was commenting about how tragic it was that it had stopped raining on everyone except for one woman in front.

yeah he said something like, "i've never seen it stop raining everywhere except for one spot...and it's directly on top of that woman."
