mmm.....Dr. Pepper

Has anyone seen the new Dr. Pepper commercial? I hardly ever watch tv and when I do I find this. Fountains of Wayne's "song" on a DP commercial.

I "yelled" at some people on LJ for complaining about this commerical. I haven't seen it. I don't even have television at my house...so..*shrug*

Yeah I've seen it. My first thought was disgust because the Mom wasn't attractive, but then again, I suppose not all moms can look like Rachel Hunter... Speaking of hearing Fountains of Wayne songs, I finally saw the Manchurian Candidate. I was surprised for the fact that they played a good 2 minute or so portion of Better Things in the climax of the movie. It was good stuff. It was a pretty good movie. Very strange though...

I think that was the point of the commercial. She was the typical "soccer mom" and because she had Dr. Pepper she had it going on or something like that. The Manchurican Candidate was freaky! Better Things was used quite well in the movie.

Yeah I realize that's what they were trying to do. I'm just saying... And yeah, throughout the whole movie I was wondering how they were going to fit Better Things in there because it really didn't seem like it could go well with any of the parts, but they did it nicely.

Seen the commercial a couple of times now and (to me) it comes across creepy. The Mom looks like she's using the Dr Pepper to seduce the boys, especially as there's no character in the ad that seems to be Stacy (it is an androgynous name).

I guess one of the boys could be Stacy but there's nothing to suggest that and it would have been pretty easy to do, like all the boys look at “Stacy” and at the end Stacy hugs mom.

Instead the commercial concludes with the Mom surveying her audience of appreciative pubescent boys. Oh yeah and the fact that it’s a DP commercial doesn’t help, either.

Yeah.. no one drinks Dr. Pepper in Jersey so they wouldn't bother to air the commerical there.

Heh.

haha....that reminds me of something that I found funny today. I open the back door at work to find a semi-truck that had Piscatoway, NJ written on it in huge letters. Okay, maybe it's really not that funny.

i agree with darkjohnson that the commercial just seems kind of creepy. where the hell is stacy in all of this dr. pepper madness? i just don't find it a particularly well-crafted commercial.

look at me, critiquing commercials. aren't i special? ;)
