Capitol Theater 10/2/2013
Hi Guys,
First off I want to say that the captcha for creating an account hear is almost impossible for a human. I gave up on my previous attempt at creating
an account.
Second, I Was at the Evan Dando / Fountains of Wayne / Soul Asylum show at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester NY on October 2nd, 2013; and I have a
recording to share.
The sound at the venue that night was substandard; with vocals being buried. I am a big Soul Asylum fan, but didn't know anything about Fountains of
Wayne other than Stacey's Mom. I quite enjoyed the show [despite venue sound quality] and was particularly impressed with harmonizing of the lead
singer and the bass player. It really made the vocals sound 'full' something which is sometimes missing from Soul Asylum sets.
This is the setlist:
1. Joe Rey
2. Mexican Wine
3. Red Dragon Tattoo
4. A Dip in the Ocean
5. Someone to Love
6. Valley Winter Song
7. The Summer Place
8. You Curse at Girls
9. Hey Julie
10. I-95
11. Bright Future in Sales
12. It Must be Summer
13. No Better Place
14. I want to sink to the bottom with you
15. Encore Noise
16. Cemetery Guns
17. Peace and Love
18. Leave the Biker
19. Stacey's Mom
20. Radiation Vibe
For you audio geeks; my original, unedited wav files:

[I'm told you'll need a SkyDrive account to download that; I didn't have enough space on my DropBox for the wavs sorry].
If you just want to listen to my mp3 edit; here it is:

I consider the recording listenable; but not perfect. I hope posting this here is acceptable.
Enjoy!

Yeah, you can blame me for that.
I didn't build the site, but I have knda inherited the running of it.
To be blunt, I got the shits with the number of spam posters registering and posting. (Go to the members list and look for all the "banned' posters
over the past couple of years).
I didn't know any other way of preventing it than tightening up the captcha process. And even then I didn't know if that was the most effective way.
When I get a chance, I'll go in and relax it a bit and hope the spammers still stay away.
Sorry about the difficulty you encountered.
Mark

I quite like the "Joel Spolsky Way" which hides spam/trolling posts from everyone but the spammer, based on IP address and/or account. In theory they
see they are getting no traction / responses / engagement and they don't know the posts are only visible to them and they eventually go away.
I have no idea if this is a common BB feature, though.

Hey Reboog
Firstly, I loosened up the captcha a bit. Of course, the first day I did that the spambots returned for a party.
I'll have a look at your suggestion when I get the chance too. I delete the spam posts pretty quickly anyway, so it's a waste of time spamming this
site to be honest.
Finally, thanks for taking the time to post the audio. I really appreciate it. The quality if fine by me.
I'm giving it my first complete listen now. Thanks again.
Mark
