Website Discussion
I just wanted to get a discussion going about the website. If every poster who visits here could post their thoughts, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I don't believe much work is put into it by the chap who started it any more, I'm not sure why. However, that's fine, we should be extremely
grateful as to the amount of work it took to get it up and running in the first place.
As everyone knows, it is dead quiet and has been for ages. It's not as if there a heap of FoW fans out there. So given that, I think we should start
discussing -
1. How to get existing posters back to the site
2. How to attract new posters to the site
3. How to increase the level of discussion
4. How and who to keep the information on the site current and updated (eg discography, news links, upcoming tour schedule, etc)
I'll be up front, due to my situation, I can only put a limited amount of time into the site. And that may well stay the case for quite a deal of
time to come yet.
I think if we had a team running the site, all of whom could commit to a certain level of commitment, it may help revitalize things a little.
I don't have any website skills myself, nor do I have access to the necessary codes, etc to update the site. I'll have to try to speak with Eric to
see what the go is there.
I guess it comes down to whether people are happy with the status quo here or if they think we should try to spruce the site up a bit. If the latter,
it has to be a case where people want to put their hands up to do their bit!
Anyway, let's see where this heads.
Cheers, Mark.
I don`t remember, I don`t recall
I got no memory of anything at all......

Good idea for a discussion sherb.
1) I am not sure how to entice people back to the site. But I know that this forum has been mentioned by the band so they know it exists. I know its
hardly the best idea but perhaps if the band could donate some prizes for competitions then it could work.
2) The band plays a lot of shows and perhaps it could be asked if they would point the fans towards this site. I am not sure of the best way to do it,
maybe if they advertise the next album they could put both the official site on the adverts and this one (with some sort of disclaimer!). Also could
we hit the facebook groups that were set up about stacy's mum etc to try and conjure up some people to come and visit.
3) I think a lot of the major topics have been discussed and the key members of the forum know a lot about the band. Perhaps we could start some sort
of collaborative project like a long distance FOW cover project where people record parts of their songs in the instrument of their choice then post
it for other members to add their other bits on.
4) I would volunteer if I knew more about web site coding. Perhaps there could be a team who could be taught how to update the content sections of the
code (perhaps just the news sections). Of course we then might have the issue of disagreements over what gets updated or not, but thats something that
could be addressed nearer the time.
I think one way to spruce up the front page quite easily would be to put the bands twitter pages (or at least Chris's if he is the only one with an
account) on the front main page of the site. I have seen fansites do that effectively and it means that even if the site is not updated regularly
there is at least a way to view new information straight from the horses mouth. Would we need Chris's consent for this? Could we ask them to set up
an official FOW Twitter?
There's my thoughts.

We could definitely spread the word on Facebook Pages.

I'm up for helping out in any way. Especially creative.
I know JoPo has used my avatar as a pic on his MySpace. I'm so proud
I think polls and competitions are good for getting people to stick around.

I really love the content of the main site but maybe the front page could be spruced up a bit in terms of graphics? Is this something that could be
done by anyone on here?
To Sherb - is this something that we can actually do?
I was also going to suggest (nearer the time of release) an album cover design competition. I was going to try and get in touch with the band and see
if they would be willing to choose the winner (and I also had an idea about the prize which might be possible).

There is one thing for sure, people log in quite often, they just don't post.
I admit being one of them but lately I'm trying to be a lot more active in regards to post so I can encourage others to do the same.

This is really cool. I think this would be a great idea providing we could all agree on a platform. Personally, I run pro tools but I'm also
accustomed to using the apple base version of Garageband for crappy demos etc etc.
I think that a base platform like Garageband or Acid would be a great way to go. I'd say it's more likely that members will have access to this than
higher-end versions of Tools or CuBase.
