Yeah, that worked pretty well. They could also use the TopSpin software to release it (did Radiohead use that software, I am not sure???). That works
pretty good if you have a large fan base and it actually gives the band a shed load more cash than selling it through iTunes. Plus the software was
written by the same people that developed Pro Tools so they have a good pedigree.

Actually I think they should do what josh freese has done:
http://joshfreese.com/buynow/
Offer packages of different prices with extra bonus stuff. I really like the $75,000 package he offers:
Signed CD/DVD and digital download.
T-shirt
Come out on tour with me for a few days.
I write, record and market a 5 song EP about you and your life story.
Take home any of my drumsets (only one but you can pick which one)
Take shrooms and cruise Hollywood in Danny from TOOL's Lamborgini OR we play "quarters" and then hop on the Ouija board for a while.
If you have a band, I'll join it for a month....play shows, record a CD together, have a swim party, etc.... or none of the above. We could also just
sit in yer basement and jam old Van Halen.
OR...
If you don't have a band I'll be your personal assistant for a month (4 day work weeks....10 am to 5 pm) and then we take a limo down to Tijuana and
I'll show you how it's done (what that means I can't legally get into here, right this minute). If you don't live in LA but are in the USA I will
come to you and be your personal assistant/cabana boy for 2 weeks.
Take a Flying Trapeze lesson together in the San Fernando Valley and then Robin from NIN and his wife make us raw lasagna.

if there was a waterboard josh freese option for 5 dollars I'd be all over that.
what I'd rather do with fountains of wayne is offer to buy chris's soul for about a dollar as he is an atheist and shouldnt really miss it
initially, then what I would do is I would hold onto to it till he gets old and starts contemplating life more seriously and maybe goes thru some
really traumatic event that makes him rethink his position on God and then he'll be like, oh shit....that intown dude from the forum's got my
fucking soul.
and then I put it on ebay and he'll have to bid for it like everyone else and possibly one of you fine people can outbid him and have ownership of
his final destination.cause from what I hear, without a soul, your afterlife is pretty much fucked.

oh man I forgot about ivy!!! weren't they planning on having a new album out, like, a year ago? or am I remembering this wrong? jeez, schles, get
with the program! whatever, I don't mind waiting really, as long as they both do happen eventually. I miss ivy too. and this stuff about fow not
being signed to any label? is slightly worrying, but not incredibly so. I'm sure our lads will find a way.
and, intown? good luck buddy.

This would be what I would expect them to do for about the $25,000 mark...
Chris will come to your house and teach you Japanese.
Adam will write a musical about you and your life that will spend 1 week on Broadway/London West End.
You get to feed various combinations of drugs to Jody and then sit back with the other members of FOW and laugh as he stumbles around trying to fight
off the Earl Grey Tea people that have infested his left leg.
Brian will join the local Ice Hockey Team of your choice and is contractually obliged to get into at least 3 fights in each match.
You get to keep one of Chris's cats.
How does that sound?

Arts & Music Festival next Sunday Apr 25, 2010
Fountains of Wayne say they love playing Hoboken
http://hudsonreporter.com/view/full_story/7187254/article-Arts---Music-Festival-next-Sunday-Fountains-of-Wayne-say-they-love-playing
-Hoboken-?
Schlesinger, who was born in Manhattan and grew up in Montclair, N.J., said last week that the band is ready to rock Hoboken.
“We’re psyched,” Schlesinger said, “and we’re big fans of Freedy [Johnston].”
Asked how he was talked into playing Hoboken, Schlesinger said, “They just asked.”
“We love playing in Hoboken,” he added. The band has played the town “many times,” and will play a show the night before the festival at Maxwell’s,
the famed Hoboken rock club.
He said Fountains of Wayne is working on a new album, a long awaited follow-up to 2007’s Traffic and Weather.
“We don’t know exactly when [we’ll release it],” he said. The band is still working on some of the new tracks. He said he hopes to get it out his
year.
...get it out “this year”?

I have a feeling its always been this way, but we didnt know it, coz you know, the internet is now a big spy. But still, it feels like it's not their
N°1 priority anymore.

Northjersey.com : Fountains Reactivated
http://www.northjersey.com/arts_entertainment/92388819_Fountains_reactivated.html?page=all
"We have a lot of songs finished [for the album], so I would like it to come out this year, definitely," says Schlesinger. "But it's hard to say
at the moment.
"There's a few new songs that we've been playing for pretty much the last year. Maybe we'll try to add a couple more [at the shows]."
Fair enough. But what's with the lag on a new album?
One reason could be geography. Collingwood lives in western Massachusetts, Young and Porter are in Los Angeles, and Schlesinger lives in Riverdale,
N.Y., making the recording process a piece-by-piece stretch rather than one long studio session.
"We probably spend a bit more on airfare than other bands," Schlesinger says.

seeing as they dont make much money on their studio CD's I can see why they would be a tad blase' about whether they get it out quick or not.
the obvious reason is, their priority is playing live as thats where they make their money, and lets face facts. except for a handful of us diehard
fans, nobody gives a shit about their new stuff.

Yeah, that's kinda sad such a quality band never made it a bit bigger. Not U2 big, but reasonably big. Shame. But i guess it's good they keep on
making records.
For people in the US, how big are their gig there ?

depends on where they play. when I saw them play their electric show in NYC at webster hall, it was jam packed with people.a very large crowd.
however when I saw them play thier acoustic show out in the middle of nowhere at bearsville theater near woodstock NY it was at a smallish club/bar.
they had a great crowd but it was "intimate". which is codeword for "small show at shithole".
I always try and go for the shows that arent in the big city.
in bearsville, hours before the show they were just sitting outside on the steps.I just walked up to them and starting babbling.
lady ga ga doesnt sit on the steps where she plays,I can tell you that.

Frankly, I'm not sure WHAT their priorities are anymore because the last show I attended was a piss-poor effort on their part. They put on a
half-assed show, a lousy two song encore and split without signing any autographs or anything. Not only does that not encourage repeat attendance, but
it sure doesn't make a fan real interested in buying any CD's. I just think it would be nice if they would, I dunno, maybe at least take ten
minutes to keep their fans up to date. Few things irk me more than bands that can't keep their websites updated and they leave people in the dark.

I think the reason they dont give the fans alot of updates on what they are doing is because the updates would read like this....
