Fountains of Wayne Live Archive?
I sometimes lurk the Jimmy Eat World Message Board, and one of the members of that board, with the contributions of the other message boards members
as well as various other sources, created a website archiving dozens of live Jimmy Eat World performances, rarities, etc.
This is his site: http://jimmyeatworldlive.co.uk
Now I know this site has a few sets, but I also know there are a lot more Fountains of Wayne bootlegs out there. I think it'd be really amazing if
someone who is internet-savvy enough could make a site similar to that one, and just archive as many live Fountains of Wayne shows as they can get a
hold of.
Anyone think this would be a cool idea? Anyone think they'd be able to do it?

This would be an AWESOME idea. I also listen to the Barenaked Ladies and someone does something like this. Literally hundreds of bootlegs, concerts
etc on there. If someone could set this up it would be brilliant. Nice idea.

I love both those bands and am good with technology alas sadly the only bootlegs I have are already on this site (and the BNL bootlegs are sold by the
band!)

Yeah I know, it's pretty cool, you can go to one of their shows and then buy it afterwards. But the site I'm referring to is here - http://www.bnlhttp.com/ where all the BNL shows on there are free.

I think this idea is wicked. I have a few live tracks that are very old and I havn't seen them on here before. I will have to dig them out of my old
PC's archive (actually its the one before the last PC back in the days of windows 95!!!!).
Mansun used to have an FTP site, but only 10 people could ever be online at once. I know Refused fans have a Gmail account that you can email stuff to
and then all you need to do is ask the account holder for the password.

What live tracks do you have, out of curiosity? I have quite a large collection, managed to get a decent amount. I'd definitely contribute.

I have a very very very early version of Radiation Vibe Live in New York (bootlegged) and Red dragon Tattoo. I think I might have some stuff from a
Radio 1 Evening session (it might have been a Reading Performance or something?) but thats on tape. I am going through my tapes at the moment checking
whats on them.
Its not much but its all I have that is new.

Nice. I think I've probably got the Radiation Vibe/Red Dragon Tattoo but not the BBC stuff. Hell, I've got the hardy audible April 4th 1997 show in
an unknown location, courtesy of Sherb lol.

Sounds like a lot of people would be up for it.
I'm really no good at graphic design or anything, nor do I know anything about making a webpage at all, so is there anyone who would be willing to
organize this and put it all together?
I'd be happy to help us much as I could; if someone could make the webpage, I could try and organize the files, and anything else I could do.
Any volunteers?

This sounds like a great idea, although I don't think I can be of any help. God speed, guys.

Maybe we could just reorganise the Media/Downloads section of this site? Just an idea, obviously I don't know how practical it may/may not be.

I will have a look for the BBC sessions over Christmas. It might take a while though.

Sounds good. I have 4 MP3s of an interview Phill Jupitus on BBC Radio, but they aren't sessions or live so that'll be good to get. Nice stuff,
can't wait!

So over the holidays I am going to investigate how much it costs to run an FTP site/how to do it. I am also going to look at web sites with large
bandwidths to see how much it would be to set up.
I am not the most technically gifted but I shall have a look at this. I think it is really worth a shot.
I do have friends who are quite good at this sort of thing so I might enlist their help in this crazy music sharing adventure.

I have some live stuff, but most of it was on this site, would love to contribute tough, I hope I would know how to make a site.
Does this one have a large bandwidth? We can host it here if thats the case.

I'm good at this sort of stuff and would love to help (also to get my hands on some new FoW stuff) so I will look into it tomorrow and see what can
be done.

If you guys would be up for it I will put together a bittorrent site that will allow us all to upload the songs to each other and not have problems
with paying for bandwidth.
Basically the principle is that we all share the songs we have off our computers at all times and continue as we get more. Once we know what is out
there we can optimize the video and music so we can put it on servers without using too much bandwidth.

We used to have a lot more music in the downloads section, but it got to the point where everybody had the songs available and we started putting up
videos instead (which obviously took up more room). Perhaps now is the time to change back.

Videos are nice though. I do see the problem though, they use a LOT of bandwidth.

Just an idea: Could we not upload files (songs/videos, whatever) to a site like rapidshare or megaupload and then just put links to the downloads on
this site?

We could but its a bit of a pain only being able to download a few things an hour. But it is better than nothing!

Actually there are some sites with no download limits, unlike Rapidshare. Rapidshare was probably a bad example, its one of the worst but its the most
heard of one. Also we could upload one file to Rapidshare, another to megaupload, one to zshare etc etc so you could download them all at once. Oh,
and by the way, Merry Christmas And Happy New Year to all!

Sounds like a plan. I think as far as video is concerned we should stick to youtube and only have the shows (like VH1) on the actual storage servers.

Personally I'm a big fan of mediafire, it makes it easier to keep track of uploaded files.
