Fountains of Wayne

New Commercial Dealy on the Official Site

Mr. Crabtree - 2004-12-10 at 03:32 PM

Pretty sweet, eh...touching...maybe they'll be recognized more now...then again...they most definitely won't...because they are actually good...

That ad is so effective that it almost makes me forget that I hate American football.

It also makes me realize that I don't look at the official site nearly often enough.

You must really check out Australian Rules Football, LLL ;)

There will be such an overwhelmingly positive response to the ad Mr C that All Kinds of Time will be released as a single, and will become the band's second big hit from Welcome Interstate Managers.

(I hope).

Mr. Crabtree - 2004-12-10 at 06:57 PM

hehe...yes...

I hate American football too...soccer is so much cooler...that's right...actually...tennis is the king of all sports...ok...maybe not...but it is my favorite sport to play, so...that's gotta be worth something...but probably not...

Mr C used to be indecisive, but now he's not so sure. ;)

queequegx6 - 2004-12-11 at 10:09 AM

i hate football as well... and it somewhat irks me that i know i'm going to watch it just to see this commercial, because i've found that i do whatever fountains of wayne tells me to do...

i'm kind of a geek.

actually, i'm really a geek.

Mr. Crabtree - 2004-12-11 at 01:27 PM

meh...it's all about being a geek these days...

FOWfan20 - 2004-12-11 at 06:16 PM

It's all about the recognition! It took them a while to get going, not being too well known until their third album with Stacey's Mom... now that they are on a roll, there's no stopping them! Now all we have to do is see what other songs are used and enjoy!

They are everywhere - TV Shows, movies, NFL Ads.............

I think All Kinds of Time would make a fabulous single, the NFL thing could be just the impetus for it to happen.

Single Release

FountainsofWalter - 2004-12-28 at 12:21 PM

This commercial is the only thing good on American television with the exception of The Simpsons and Skinemax.

Mr. Crabtree - 2004-12-28 at 12:57 PM

That's right...the Simpson's rock...and so does your screen name...as long as you live somewhere called Walter...

fountaingirl - 2004-12-30 at 10:25 PM

oh I hope they make it a single! not like people would recognize how cool it is but we'd get more bsides out of the deal :D

andymate - 2004-12-31 at 04:07 AM

Call me cynical, but I bet they've already pressed up thousands of promos and sent them to radio stations. The only reason they would do b-sides is if the single was to be released in Europe, and as nobody outside the States has a clue what all that American Football is lark is all about, I can't really see it happening.

On a side issue, I also don't really ever check the official site anymore. It never changes! This site is all you need for Fountains of Wayne News..well done Eric!

It wouldn't surprise me if the band members themselves checked out Fountains of Wayne.us for the latest news too. :D

So I finally saw the commercial on tv. It was good stuff...hearing Fountains of Wayne being played from something other than my computer...
